Group Delay Eq and Crossover design, two links
Just a quick note for crossover and audio fans for accumulating some interesting reading.
First, Charlie Laub has run a couple of articles that, in summary, celebrate the value of getting some transmission zeroes into crossover filters - making them look a little like elliptic filters, though that’s really just superficial.
The articles themselves in audioxpress magazine are a good place to start but the real meat, which shows just how much effort he’s been putting in, is in his supplemental material which you can download from the audioxpress website. Here’s the link:
https://audioxpress.com/page/audioxpress-supplementary-material.html and go for Laub-Ax-September2024.
I’m going to do a bit of parallel analysis on this and write in due course. The other interesting piece is an IEEE paper supporting the general assumptions about group delay that he’s using. Here’s the DOI:
10.1109/TASLP.2021.3087969
I was able to download that but then I’m an IEEE member and that might have helped. I’ll put some comments on that here in the next week or so. Generally there’s a lot more investigation of time domain behavior that I would have liked to see.
All for today — K
